I love these sorts of stori...So fascinating, Heidi! I love these sorts of stories that intertwine history and mythology. And by the way, not sure if you remember the post I wrote in which historians believe Anahita (also called Haravati) is the same goddess the Hindus worship as Saraswati. (Hear the similarity in those names?). Saraswati, however, is considered the goddess of wisdom. Not war or fertility (that I know of). But there's a legendary ancient river was named in her honor: the Saraswati River, so maybe there's a connection between the water theme.
