I'm a planner myself and I have to agree, most of my most memorable experiences are the ones I could never have planned. Guess it pays to be flexible sometimes, huh?Alli Sinclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00363202163419352155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-69464555881180933192012-03-22T01:55:07.681-04:002012-03-22T01:55:07.681-04:00@Heidi Thanks! I don't however, recommend their all-China guidebook as it is now--the information is unfortunately too sparse and biased for much of the off-the-beaten path places (i.e. the whole reason you would buy the book) to warrant lugging the giant book around. Their regional guides are better, though. Also, interesting note, Lonely Planet's China guide is not actually sold in China because the map in the front shows Taiwan as a separate country--which goes against the official stance of the government.Beth Greenhttp://www.bethgreenwrites.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-39635621762641556742012-03-22T01:19:59.738-04:002012-03-22T01:19:59.738-04:00What a wonderful story, Beth (and gorgeous photos!...What a wonderful story, Beth (and gorgeous photos!). Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm a big fan of the Lonely Planet guidebooks, too. The one for Iran is excellent, and I take it with me whenever I go there.Heidi Noroozyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03351899620446316075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-87995884976260741252012-03-21T23:39:18.354-04:002012-03-21T23:39:18.354-04:00To everyone--Thanks for the comments!

While China is becoming more and more internet functional like the West, they still lag behind most countries in their tourist-friendly websites. I'm sure it will all change in the next several years, but for now, it's a frontier!Beth Greenhttp://www.bethgreenwrites.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-85870829797836755702012-03-21T18:18:43.926-04:002012-03-21T18:18:43.926-04:00Ditto what Patricia and Geets said!
