I always thought Italians were the predominant second culture in Argentina, or maybe I just assumed that from colonial times.Supriya Savkoorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10854983392374596718noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-92126499791183062812010-12-08T16:12:40.110-05:002010-12-08T16:12:40.110-05:00Thanks so much, Gerhard! I used to live in Mendoza.

Heidi, a lot of the people I met in Gaiman were bi-lingual, and sometimes tri-lingual (English being the third language). I guess it depends on whether someone is from a family that is determined to keep the Welsh language alive. I heard a story about a teacher from Wales being sent to Gaiman to encourage Welsh speakers to continue with the language.Alli Sinclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00363202163419352155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-36594211685353808062010-12-08T13:01:19.828-05:002010-12-08T13:01:19.828-05:00What a fascinating story! I am always fascinated to see places like this, where one culture is so well preserved against the backdrop of another, and it makes me think how much effort goes into preserving it.Heidi Noroozyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03351899620446316075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8018311341701044333.post-87626517395214415112010-12-07T15:40:57.477-05:002010-12-07T15:40:57.477-05:00Thanks, Kathy! I was shocked to realize I had such ties to California's Central Valley, always thinking of myself as a SoCal beach girl. :)

But I did see an Anthony Bourdain episode on this area and found it fascinating!
